Ciao
Hi, I know I don't really post here often, but I have a question:
Does anybody know where I can get any information/books etc. on runes? I'm really interested but I don't have much time to research on my own because of school. Thanks in advance!

You should be able to find them at almost any bookstore in the metaphysical section. Or you could order it online at amazon.com. Even your local public library might have something.

Hope that helps a little.

As I understand it, this site is supposed to be quite good about runes.
I've a copy of Runes for Beginners by Kristyna Arcarti. It seems ok. Not stellar by any means, but decent.
If you check amazon.com for keywords "beginners guide to runes" it pulls up a fair list.

Not meant at all as a snide jab: perhaps, if you do not have the time right now to look up where to find the information on runes, perhaps you do not have time to study them either... Perhaps it is just not the right time for you and runes.

Point taken. But, if I use what time I have now to get information, then later, I'll have more time to actually read/use that information. You're absolutely right, & I'm almost 90% sure I'm not going to use this information within the next month or so. But, when I'm ready, it'll be there, so I won't use up the time I have looking for info.

Ah, I hadn't thought of it that way. Very good, then. :)

*spins around in her chair, then spins back, holding a copy of a book called "Raido: The Runic Journey"*

The author is Jennifer Smith, this is a plastic-ringed, hand-bound book from a small publication: Tara Hill Designs (Milton, Ontario, CANADA). IMO, it is a better book on runes than most that one could find.

First, it covers PREPARATION, going into "Origins", "The History of the Futharks" and "Sources". Then, Part 2 is TRANSFORMATION. It explains what an aettir is and goes into an in-depth explanation of each rune in the three aettirs. As well, the book offers notes on pronunciation.

Part 3 is APPLICATION, which covers "Divination" (sub-sections: theory, methods of runic divination, learning to read, and one's personal rune set), and "Rune Magic" (sub-sections: inscriptions, rune scripts, bindrunes, and magic).

Lastly come the Appendix ("Rune Poems": 1 Icelandic, 1 Anglo-Saxon/Old English poem), the bibliography and the index.

One thing about the bibliography that I really do enjoy is that there are only 2 Llewellyn books referenced and each were publications from the 80's, rather than the Fake New Age (Greedy) 90's.

The book is not a big one, but it is better than the books you'll get from large, money-hungry companies that don't really care about your spirituality, their own or anyones.
